NUK is a brand of MAPA GmbH, headquartered in Zeven, Lower Saxony. NUK's product range includes baby pacifiers, baby bottles and accessories, drinking bottles, breastfeeding supplies, dental care products for babies and toddlers, teething rings, baby monitors and safety accessories, children's cutlery and crockery, baby food preparation products, and electronic baby appliances such as breast pumps, vaporizers, baby food warmers, and night lights. NUK also offers a range of hospital products, such as cleft lip pacifiers and premature baby pacifiers. The NUK story began in 1956 when dentists Wilhelm Balters and Adolf Müller developed an asymmetrically shaped pacifier. This was manufactured by Hanseatische Gummiwarenfabrik GmbH. In 1969, this company became MAPA GmbH. MAPA GmbH, in turn, has been part of the US-based Jarden Corporation since 2010. Initially, the product range consisted of a pacifier, a teat for baby bottles and a jaw former used to correct misaligned teeth.
